TechFest™ 2010 is free family fun with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) exhibits designed to motivate youth (K-12, with a focus on grades 4-9) to study math and science in their school environment. The program will be held at the David Ponitz Center at Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio (GPS Setting: 301 West Fourth Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402) on Saturday, February 13, from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, February, 14, 11 am to 5 pm.
TechFest™ 2010 features:
- Hands-on interactive exhibits that are demonstrated by practicing scientists and engineers. Last year’s program had three buildings plus an outdoor exhibit area filled with 72 exhibits: Biology, life sciences, chemistry, physics, aviation, electricity, weather, space, environmental science, computer technology, computer simulation, computer games, optics, math, civil engineering, project management, safety, and more, from professional societies, colleges, universities, businesses, parks, museums, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
- Stage demonstrations and presentations on STEM topics. Last year, 10 presenters (mostly scientists and engineers) made 40 entertaining and informative presentations.
- Free Teachers Workshops/In-services on STEM topics approved for CEU s (Saturday only). Last year’s 8 workshops had 400 total seats available. Contact Shiela Wallace 937.429.2473. Flyers for the teachers workshops are currently being distributed to schools. Registrations for the in-services close February 5, 2010.
